Artist: Michelle Branch
Album: Hotel Paper
Released On: June 24, 2003
Having such a perfect debut album, it was difficult for Michelle
Branch to match her prior achievement. Avoiding the sophomore jinx,
she chose to stick with her formula for success but this time with
edgier lyrics and sound. This album is not as cheerful and loving
as the first album but delivers the same message with a definite
sense of maturity. Without a doubt Michelle has definitely has staying
power and has the ability to adapt to changes.
The first single, “Are You Happy Now” is a departure
from the happy melody of “Everywhere” and “All
You Wanted.” Her collaboration with Sheryl Crow is spectacular.
A particular of mine is “Tuesday Morning” which Michelle
portrays the emotions of a woman wanting the love and comfort of
a man. She is able to deliver catchy hooks while simultaneously
conveying deep emotions. YecatS gives this album an A-. Buy it now
if you don’t have it!
